A friend of mine suggested to me to pin down what i dreamt the night before and how much i can recall about it, not forgetting the content of the dream. So, interestingly, I decided to give it a go to see how much a person can dream and how powerful the human brain is.

Also, i’d like to prove that one can read words in their dreams to challenge what batman or bruce wayne said in the episode, “Perchance to dream”. in this episode, bruce wayne realized that he was in a dream when he opened a book and the words were scrambled. he claimed that when sleeping, the left side of the brain which is controls reading and interpretation of words is lying dormant and therefore one cannot read during a dream.

Lastly, i’ve been doing a little bit of research on Lucid Dreaming. And i’d like to try it out if possible.

To the reader: All content written is purely fictional, characters may represent people in real life but not their actual behaviour. Please do not take to heart what is written here as it was all a dream.

To the author: If you can read this: This means you’ve succeeded.

Incident 001: SUCCESS! LOL. Something interesting happened last night that proved that you can read in your dreams. Sunday, during service, pastor read the psalm during call to worship on ‘As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God.” i opened my bible and tried to recall which number the psalm was. i thought it was 35 but it wasn’t.

Subconsciously, I gave up searching after a few minutes. I dreamt I was in a big lecture hall that resembled one in school and it was during service in Z. I knew it was Z because of the people around. Now the interesting part, during my sleep, pastor Q asked us to turn to Psalm 42 and read the exact same psalm that I had been looking for. I remember looking at the words in the dream, ‘As the deer panteth for the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God’. I saw the words in my dream! This morning when I woke up, I thought it was a dream and it can’t be true. I got into the office, hooked up my laptop and checked up blue letter bible. To my utter surprise, it was indeed Psalm 42 and indeed the psalm I was looking for with the exact same words. Well that was interesting. More important is the fact that I proved Bruce Wayne wrong. Ok yeah he’s fictional as well..

Another funny dream was, i dreamt the people in nyp were in phs canteen and we were ordering food during recess time. i queued up to buy chicken rice and i remember the plate. it was pieces of chicken scattered at one half of the plate and mashed rice on the other half. i looked up and saw mr soon, or soon lao shi, the cook who was holding a mobile phone to his ear with one hand and handing over my plate on the other. what a joke man.

Incident 002: Ok this happened a few days ago but I still can remember bits of it. Basically, the scenario is set in a school hall, something like in my primary school. The hall is filled with students seated on the floor and teachers seated on benches at the sides of the hall. My perspective was at the southeast section of the hall. My supervisor was seated at the northwest section, diagonally across where I was. All of a sudden, he asked me to come on stage and share my India experience, what I’ve learnt etc. Thunderous applause followed and I was stunned, as I had not prepared for it. It was as if he wanted to take revenge on me for something I did earlier lol.

I got on stage to the podium situated in the center. I think I started off by saying this was my first time doing something like that impromptu and I’m a little nervous. Supervisor was like ‘ahh unnecessarily stuff, get on with it.’ And then I continued saying it was a good experience and then poof the dream was gone. Heh..

Incident 003: I realized that a lot of my dreams are a reflection of the movies that I had watched on that day or days before. The first was a dream where I was sitting in a 4wd. It was raining outside and the road was covered with puddles of water and mud. There was also this familiar trailer vehicle behind as well. Suddenly, two Velociraptors leaped on a second car and menaced at me. I could only remember their jaws coming down on the window and then all went black. Guess what movie I watched?

Another one occurred after watching another movie. I was at the roof of this extremely high rise building. There were two small rectangular towers in front of me and both are linked by walkways at different intersections. Baddies were closing in from behind and I leaped off the building. I remember the effect of flying down a building, seeing the air and the surrounding getting zooming nearer and nearer. During my flight down, baddies were firing at me with their automatic weapons from above as well as from the two towers mentioned earlier at the intersections. I landed mysteriously on another 4 or 5 storey building on the street and quickly crept to the side to avoid detection by spot lights and helicopters. Can’t remember what happened next. Can you guess what movie I watched? Betcha it’s not ImPossible to get this wrong.

Incident 003, 14/02/08: Things are not looking too good for the past 2 weeks. I think I maybe facing what I call ‘recurring dreams’, dreams with a similar theme or feature the same person every time. As far as I can count, I’ve had 4 dreams about the same person and me and they are in bad, bad situations. After the dream, I would usually wake up, my heart pounding like anything, my lungs gasping for air usually from a transition stage which I’m fully aware of. What could all these mean? I heard somewhere that when you are awake, your conscious mind is in control of your thoughts whereas when you are dreaming, your sub-conscious mind is in control. I feel that these dreams are spelling out my fears and anxieties, can’t really say they are nightmares as they truly do bring to realization, my worst fears. How can I prevent them from occurring again, what can I do to deal with these dreams? I pray that time will reveal these answers.

Incident 004 26/02/08: “Recurring dreams” ended just after the previous entry. Guess it was a result of the events that occurred the following day and week. In this incident, I can once again prove that one is able to read words in their dreams. Previously I claimed that I read something from a book, words on pages. This time, the words came in the form of SMS on my handphone. Although I can remember vividly the words that came from the same person in 2 separate smses, I don’t think I should write them down. Next thing is my reaction to it. After I read the first sms in my dream, which contained a severe message from someone, I literally jumped out of bed. Usually it would be resting on the ledge on my right but this time it was on my study table. So I got up and grabbed it thinking that it was real. Of course it wasn’t. So I went back to sleep and got another one this time with a more casual message from the same person.
Conclusion: You can read words in your dreams on pages and handphones. And maybe I miss something too much…
